Morning after breakfast, proceeds for half day sightseeing tour of Bangalore covering Lal Bagh Garden with its lakes and lotus-filled pools (Lal Bagh gardens developed with lavish care since the Muslim era and which now offer a variety of century-old trees, fountains, lotus pools, terraces and an assortment of herbs and plants spread out over several acres), Vidhan Soudha (Photo stop outside of Vidhan Soudha – It has the distinction of being the largest legislative building in India), the Bull Temple (the monolithic deity being the Nandi or celestial bull, a marvelous work on granite) and the Mysore Arts and Crafts Centre, Tipu’s Palace.

Later drive to Mysuru enroute visit Srirangapatnam, an island between two branches of  the Cauvery River and was the capital of the Mysore Rajas from 1610 to 1799.  Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan were its most famous denizens.  Visit the ruins of Tipu’s fort, the summer pleasure palace and the Gumbaz, his mausoleum. The inside of the Palace is handsomely carved with ornate arches and ceilings, liberally gilded wall panels and charming frescoes.  

Continue drive to Mysore.  On arrival check-in at the hotel.

Morning after breakfast, you will visit the Mysore Palace (Maharajas’s Palace) – a synthesis of Hindu and Muslim styles. Gateways, domes, arches, turrets, colonnades, sculpture – all are here in magnificent profusion.  Also visit Chamundi Hill named after the Royal Family’s patron goddess and the site of summer palaces, an ancient temple and the 16-foot Nandi (Siva’s bull) carved out of a single huge boulder.  The view from the hill offers a beautiful panorama of not only all Mysore, but also ranges of hills, lakes and the turrets of temples and churches.         

After sightseeing drive to Kabini National Park.  On arrival Check –in at Hotel.

Kabini is a part of Nagarhole Tiger Reserve in the southern part of Karnataka adjoining the state of Kerala. Nagarhole means Snake Stream and its gets its name from the shape it takes while flowing which resembles that of a crawling snake. The park was an exclusive hunting reserve of the kings of the Wodeyar dynasty, the former rulers of the Kingdom of Mysore. It was set up in 1955 as a wildlife sanctuary and later its area increased to 644 Sq. km. It was upgraded into a National Park in 1974. The park was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1999.

Kabini is located on the north-west of the Bandipur tiger reserve and is separated by the Kabini reservoir and this is how this part of Nagarhole Tiger Reserve (Balle Range & Antarasanthe Range) is known as Kabini. Kabini forest reserve is one of the best wildlife destination in Karnataka mainly because  of its accessibility, rich green vegetation, water body and possibility of the animal spotting like herds of Elephants, Jaguar, Tiger and Black Leopard

Ooty the beautiful leading hill resort of south India. Situated in the heart of the Nilgiris (Blue Mountains) at a height of 2287m, it lies on a plateau and looks like a vast park. Lofty hills add to the grandeur of the scenery. Its climate is similar to summer in England. The beautiful terraced gardens are a landmark in Ooty. Ooty is also known for its tea and coffee plantations.

Then visit Botanical Gardens – this is undeniably one of the most popular places to see in Ooty. Spread over 55 acres of land, this garden is divided into five different sections such as Fern House, Lower Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory and Nurseries. Later visit Doddabetta Peak is the highest peak in the Nilgiris. At the junction of Western and Eastern Ghats, it is around 10 km away from Ooty. Covered by dense sholas, this peak is trekkers favourite point.

Afternoon proceeds for sightseeing visiting Sultan Bathery (is as old as the hill station itself) Previously known as Ganapathyvattam, this city was named after Tipu Sultan; the great ruler of Mysore, invaded this region. After invasion, the ruler used a temple within this city as his battery (a storage for artilleries and ammunitions). Since then, the city got its name Sulthan Battery, which later became Sulthan Bathery.

Later visit Jain Temple & Edakkal Caves: Edakkal Caves is a set of two ancient caves that testifies the existence of human civilization from the Neolithic Age (5,000 – 1,000 BC). Some of the paintings found in these caves date back to Indus Valley Civilization. The caves are also believed to have strong essence of Harappan Civilization. Return to Resort

House boats are the modern form of the Traditional “Rice Boats or Kettuvallams”.  These boats in olden times were rice cargo boats that were used to transport rice, and all other goods, in the maze of the Backwaters.  The modern Houseboats are built on the old pattern completely out of wood, all their furnishings are local.  They are lit with traditional lanterns. Cruise the narrow canals in the Backwaters.

Cruise down the centuries-old backwaters flanked by picture-book towns and ancient trading ports.  Palms meeting overhead are a green canopy. Sail through the jade-smooth waters passing quacking squadrons of ducks surrounding oared boats carrying cycles, bearded Syrian Christian priests, newsboys and  fishwives with an aromatic baskets.  People fish, swim, wash clothes with the squeaky-clean perfection of Kerala.
