After breakfast, today you start driving to sham valley. On the way, visit the great statue of Maitreya Buddha in the Likir monastery and the 1000 -year old murals of Alchi monastery, listed among the best Buddhist miniature paintings. Enroute visit Magnetic Hill -a natural wonder of the region and the Military Hall of Fame- a museum and memorial of the war heroes that is established and managed by the Indian Army. After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (Highest Motorable road in the World, 18,380 ft). Post-lunch, enjoy the camel safari at Sand Dunes between Diskit & Hundur Village. Visit Disket Monastery and Maitreya Buddha (O/N at hotel Hunder Lodge & camp / Meal plan (B,D)
It is one of the most fascinating journeys in Ladakh. This is a less popular destination recently opened for tourists,This region is controlled mainly by the Ladakh Scouts, a rear department of the India Army. A border village that was recaptured by the Indian Army in 1971. Locals have relatives across the border (Line of Control) and depend mainly on farming of vegetables, apricot besides providing mules and porters. Baltistan a beautiful village with charming people “On the night of December 13, 1971, the people of this village went to sleep in Pakistan. The next morning, they woke up in India.” We are in Turtuk, listening to a villager recount the history of this remote northwest corner of Ladakh, which until that night was part of Baltistan in PoK You will come back to Nubra Valley by the evening. It’s market day in Lausanne! Enjoy browsing and packing a picnic lunch for our 11 a.m. boat cruise on Lake Geneva. A few miles down-shore we’ll dock at Château de Chillon, where we’ll have a guided tour of this delightfully medieval castle on the water. On our way back we’ll take time to peek into the vineyards surrounding Lutry before returning to Lausanne. Boat: 2 hrs. Bus: 1 hr. Walking: moderate.
Rezang-La-War Memorial Ladakh- Celebrate the Courage of Indian Soldiers Post breakfast visit Rezang-la War memorial. The Eastern Ladakh?s Rezang La houses the symbol of courage of the Indian Army; a revamped war memorial that was inaugurated by our defense minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday (18 November 2021). Built in 1963, Rezang La Memorial is a symbol of determination and indomitable courage by our Indian Soldiers. It is a place where many Indian soldiers sacrificed their lives to protect our country from China in 1962. The battle restricted China to enter Leh during the war. Rajnath Singh paid tribute to 114 soldiers who died during the battle at Rezang La on 18th November 1962.
Embark on a drive along the Indus River into Rupshu Valley early in the morning. Tsomoriri Lake is about 220 kilometers from Leh and is located in an altitude of 4200 meter. The lake is famous worldwide for its picturesque beauty. While proceeding towards Tsomoriri Lake, visit the Chumathang Hot Springs and cross the Mahe Bridge. If you are lucky you can also see Himalayan marmots on the way. By late noon reach Tsomoriri Lake; upon arrival, check in at the tented camp near the lake. Later, visit the lake shores which is famous as a designated Ramsar wetland sanctuaries. It is a popular breeding and nestling area for thousands of migratory birds that include Brahimini Duck, Bar Headed Goose, Black Naked Cranes etc.
After a refreshing morning breakfast, drive to Leh via Tsokar Lake route. On the way, visit the Puga Geo-thermal Gas Springs and Nomadic Rebo tents at Polo- Kongka Pass. After crossing the pass, stop by Tsokar Lake for a photo stop. If you wish to, you can also visit the monastery of tiny Thukje village. Upon reaching Manali highway, cross the Tanglangla Pass which is located in an altitude of 5350 meter. By the evening check in at hotel.
